Port of Corpus Christi

A leader in U.S. energy exports, the Port of Corpus Christi is the nation’s third largest port in the United States in total waterborne tonnage. Since June 2025, Port customers are benefiting from completion of the Corpus Christi Ship Channel Improvement Project, which deepened the waterway to 54 feet. The Port moved record volumes in the first quarter of 2026, driven primarily by increases in shipments of crude oil and liquefied natural gas.

Now featuring a 530-foot width and additional barge shelves, the completed ship channel supports safer and more efficient vessel transits. Safe, efficient movement in and out of the Port has been further strengthened by completion of the new Harbor Bridge—a $1.2 billion span with 205 feet of vertical clearance which replaced the original 138-foot clearance bridge that opened in 1959.
In addition, the Port of Corpus Christi has invested more than $1 billion in on-port infrastructure projects over the past decade, with improvements made to docks handling bulk cargos, oil and wind energy components and various breakbulk commodities, while also advancing efforts to diversify its cargo base and attract a broader range of industries.
