An accident on the Blackwater rail corridor in Queensland, Australia, has halted transportation of coking coal from several major mines to the port of Gladstone. System operator Aurizon has given no indication of when the line will reopen.
Aurizon is assisting emergency services with access to the site of the accident, which involved a locomotive striking the rear of a stationary coal train.
The Blackwater system transports coal from the Curragh, Jellinbah East, Blackwater and Kestrel coking coal mines, as well as from the Rolleston and Minerva thermal coal mines.
