Thailand is to reopen more of the country to Covid-19 vaccinated international tourists from October, in a potential boost to the country's jet fuel demand.

Thailand saw its jet fuel exports rise to a one-year high in July even as output dipped. Total passenger throughput at Thailand's airports for August fell to 367,700, the lowest since May 2020, according to Airports of Thailand data.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand announced on 27 September that the country's Covid-19 administration centre has approved a four-phase timeline to reopen the country.

International travellers will be allowed to travel to specified provinces without quarantine, under this "phased reopening". The country will continue to welcome vaccinated tourists to four popular beach resorts, including Phuket, Surat Thani, Krabi and Phang Nga, and will reopen next month new designated areas in Krabi.

From November the country will allow vaccinated visitors into another 10 more tourist destinations, including its capital of Bangkok, and designated areas in Chiang Mai, Buri Ram, Chon Buri, Loei, Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, and Ranong.

Another 20 more provinces will see their borders lifted for vaccinated tourists in December, while 13 other border provinces will reopen from January next year.

Thailand has recorded fewer Covid-19 cases in the past month, logging 10,288 new Covid-19 cases on 27 September that was the lowest level in more than two months.
