Thailand will resume its quarantine-free arrival programme for vaccinated visitors from next month, following a month-long suspension because of the potential impact of the Omicron Covid-19 variant.

The move is likely to provide a slight boost to the country's jet fuel demand, lendingsupport to Asia's jet fuel market.

Asian jet fuel margins, or the premium or discount of Singapore front-month jet fuel swaps against Dubai crude values, have averaged slightly higher in January at around $12.39/bl, up from an average of $10.72/bl in December when countries were alarmed by the impact of Omicron and imposed more travel restrictions.

Thailand will welcome vaccinated visitors from 1 February, with international travellers able to start applying for visas under the country's "Test and Go" entry programme, the government said today. Vaccinated visitors of all nationalities will be able to travel to Thailand without quarantine but will need to take a Covid-19 test on arrival and five days later.

The scheme was halted from the end of December when Omicron cases were detected in Thailand. It is still recording upwards of 7,000 new cases each day but the number of new deaths has fallen to double-digit levels, according to the World Health Organisation.

Thailand, which is heavily reliant on tourism, had also expanded its "sandbox" programme to more domestic destinations like Krabi, Phang-Nga and Surat Thani, where all international visitors, who have tested negative for Covid-19, will be able to travel within the areas.
