Greek shipowner Thenamaris has taken delivery of its newbuild LNG carrier — the 174,000m³ Cool Discoverer — from South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI).
The vessel, which departed HHI's Ulsan yard early this morning, brings Thenamaris' LNG fleet to four vessels. The owner is also set to take delivery of the 174,000m³ Cool Racer in February 2021, closing its LNG orderbook. Thenamaris' older three carriers each have capacities of 160,000m³ and were built in 2013-15.
The delivery is the fourth so far in September, with one more carrier slated for delivery before the end of the month — the 174,000m³ Vivit Americas to Greek owner TMS Cardiff.
But deliveries are set to step higher in the fourth quarter of this year to 14 vessels from the 11 expected to be delivered in the third quarter, rising further to 15 carriers in the first quarter of 2021.
