LNG exports in April from Gladstone port in Australia's Queensland rose by nearly 9pc from the previous month to the highest level since November last year.
Gladstone shipped 1.9mn t in 29 shipments during April, up from 1.75mn t on 27 vessels the previous month, according to Gladstone Ports (GPC) data. November 2022 saw 1.94mn t leave the port, which exports from the 7.8mn t/yr Gladstone LNG, 9mn t/yr Australia Pacific LNG and the 8.5mn t/yr Curtis LNG projects.
The resumption of operations at one of Curtis LNG's production trains, which was off line for most of March, was likely behind the rebound. But exports were 7.3pc down from 2.05mn t in April 2022.
China was the main destination for LNG from Gladstone in April, rising by 12.9pc from the previous month and 2.1pc up on April 2022 as trade relations between the nations continue to thaw.
Argus last assessed the fob Gladstone LNG export price at A$14.77/GJ ($10.42/mn Btu) on 5 May, down significantly from A$24.48/GJ on 6 February.
