Williams announced today it will begin selling ethylene from its 1.95bn lb/yr Geismar, Louisiana cracker in November, but notified customers it might have to allocate sales as the plant starts up.
"We are in the final stages of commissioning and startup," said senior vice president of NGL and petrochemical services John Dearborn. "We fully expect to be manufacturing ethylene for sale in November."
Startup of the expanded facility has been delayed several times since the plant went down following an explosion in June 2013. The company's last targeted restart was for October; in its second quarter earnings release it noted start-up issues could cause delays and adjusted its financial guidance for first ethylene production and sales anywhere between mid-October to the end of the year.
November ethylene in Mont Belvieu, Texas, traded at 56¢/lb this morning.
