Mexico, Saudi oil ministers to meet this week

Saudi Arabia's oil minister Ali Naimi will meet with Mexico's energy secretary Pedro Joaquín Coldwell on 12 November during a natural gas conference in Acapulco.

Naimi had met with Venezuelan energy officials during a conference on the Venezuelan island of Margarita last week.

Mexico´s energy ministry did not say what the ministers will discuss, but falling oil prices are likely to top the agenda.

The meetings take place on the eve of an Opec meeting on 27 November in Vienna.

Venezuela is a founding member of Opec. Mexico is a major non-Opec producer.

Both countries have seen declining production in recent years. Mexico´s output has the potential to rebound on the back of a sweeping energy reform that is dismantling the state´s monopoly over the oil sector.
