The Israeli military today carried out 12 airstrikes on the Yemen port of Hodeidah targeting three of the port's loading platforms allegedly used by the Houthi militant group, warning that the strikes will continue.

No casualties or damage to merchant vessels were immediately reported, according to maritime security firm Ambrey. There were three merchant vessels in the port and an additional nine merchant vessels in the anchorage when the attack occurred, Ambrey said.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said the targeted attack on a "Houthi military infrastructure site" at the port was "in response to the repeated attacks by the Houthi terrorist regime against Israel and its civilians".

"The port is used for the transfer of weapons supplied by the Iranian regime, in order to execute attacks against Israel and its allies," IDF said.

Israel's defense minister Israel Katz said the attack was to "ensure the continuation of the maritime and air blockade" against the Houthis, according to Ambrey.

The IDF warned that the strikes will continue and issued an evacuation order for the port, warning "all those present at Hodeida Port and the ships moored there to evacuate the area immediately".
