Overview
2026 contract negotiations ongoing
Prices remained flat across all global regions today in the absences of any new reported bids, offers or transactions.
Spot trade remains limited by overall supply constraints in the market and as a result attention has shifted more towards contract negotiations, with many supply deals for 2026 expected to be finalised in the coming weeks.
In west of Suez markets particularly, contract negotiations are being dominated by discussions surrounding the European Union's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). It is unclear as of yet how many will opt to price the additional carbon tax on imports in their contracts, and if the cost will be largely borne by the supplier, importer, or a combination of the two.
