French energy major TotalEnergies said it delivered marine biofuel for the first time to shipping company Hapag-Lloyd in Singapore, as part of a new term supply agreement.
The first bunker operation took place on 20 January, when the 15,000TEU container vessel Afif took delivery of 2,000t of B24. The delivery was executed as a ship-to-ship operation facilitated by Jurong Port Universal Terminal (JPUT).
JPUT also took delivery of 100pc used cooking oil methyl ester (Ucome) for the first time.
B24 is a biofuel bunker blend consisting of 24pc of Ucome and 76pc of very low-sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO).
This blend is expected to deliver 20pc less greenhouse gas emissions on a well-to-wake basis compared with traditional bunkers.
Argus launched a B24 price assessment on 31 January, the first market-assessed price for an alternative marine fuel.
