The US is providing nearly $570mn on concessional lending to help "jump start" clean energy supply chain investment in developing countries.

The funding, announced on Saturday by US vice president Kamala Harris during the Cop 28 UN summit in Dubai, will support a new initiative that aims to help bolster supply chains and drive investment in clean energy manufacturing.

"To meet these global challenges, we must have global collaboration," Harris said.

The US said its new Clean Energy Supply Chain Collaborative will aim to help "like-minded countries" advance supply chain policies, incentives, standards and investments across seven key technologies, including wind, solar batteries electrolyzers, heat pumps, direct air capture and sustainable aviation fuels.

The concessional lending will be made available from the US Treasury Department through the Clean Technology Fund, a multilateral trust fund that helps deploy low-carbon technologies in developing countries.
