Harvesting of the 2023-24 soybean crop in Brazil's Mato Grosso state advanced 7.9 percentage points ahead of the year-earlier pace in the latest week.
The oilseed crop is 21.5pc harvested as of 26 January, an advance of 8.7 percentage points from a week prior, according to Mato Grosso's agricultural economics institute Imea.
Harvesting for the 2022-23 soybean crop was at 13.6pc complete in the state at this time a year ago, while the five-year average for the period is at 18pc.
Winter corn planting also ahead on year
Imea estimates that the 2023-24 winter corn crop was 11.2pc planted in Mato Grosso, advancing by 7.3 percentage points on the week.
That compares with the nearly 6pc sowed at this time in 2023 for the previous cycle and a five-year average of almost 17.5pc.
