Argentina's soybean harvest was completed in the week ending 4 July, producing an estimated 50.5mn t, according to the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange (Bage).

Argentinian farmers finished the national soybean harvest in the latest reporting week, having been 99.7pc complete a week earlier.

The estimated 50.5mn t output represents a 6pc increase compared with the previous five-year average, with an average yield of 2.99 t/hectare.

Argentina's corn harvest progressed by eight percentage points on the week, to 62.9pc completed. The national average yield is envisaged at 6.75 t/ha. Bage maintains its previous production estimate of 46.5mn t.

And sorghum threshing progressed by 16.6 percentage points over the past 15 days. Excessive heat and sub-optimal water levels have weighed on yield projections for crop planted from December onwards, Bage said. The exchange revised its production forecast 500,000t lower, to 3mn t.

Argentina's wheat planting campaign progressed by just 4.3 percentage points on the week, to 85.3pc complete. Planting was delayed by a surface soil moisture deficit in central and northern regions, and excess moisture in southern planting areas. Almost 51pc of emerged crop is in good-to-excellent condition.
