Singapore, 12 May (Argus) — Japan's All Nippon Airways (ANA) will raise its surcharge for international cargo freight from 1 June, as the airline passes on rising fuel costs.
The airline's international cargo fuel surcharge will be raised from ¥75/kg (81¢/kg) to ¥81/kg on long-haul routes to North America, Europe and the Mideast Gulf, while rising from ¥59/kg to ¥65/kg on medium-haul routes to Asia that include Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. The surcharge will rise from ¥56/kg to ¥62/kg on short-haul flights. The planned price revisions are subject to approval from the country's ministry of land, infrastructure, transport and tourism.
ANA's cargo fuel surcharge is fixed for a month, with it revised based on the average price of jet fuel for the month prior to the announcement of the next adjustment if any.
ANA posted a loss of ¥57.3bn ($610mn) for the 2009-10 fiscal year, despite cutting its operating expenses by more than 7pc from the previous year.
