Sydney, 4 July (Argus) — The Civil Aviation Safety Authority of Australia (CASA) has grounded all of Tiger Airway Australia's domestic flights until 9 July amid safety concerns.

The airline, which has its headquarters in Singapore, said it will work closely with the CASA to resume services as quickly as possible. This is the first time in Australian aviation history that a major domestic carrier has been grounded and comes just as school holidays start in Australia's eastern states.

The share values of Tiger's main competitors in Australia Qantas and Virgin Australia rose on the news as passengers looked for alternative carriers.
