Chevron Phillips Chemical is shutting down units at its Cedar Bayou, Texas ethylene plant today for planned maintenance, according to filings with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

The EU-1592 and U-1092 units will undergo maintenance. During the shutdown, the derivative and polyethylene unit purge gas streams, where possible, will be routed to the process boilers or to flares, which will result in emissions. Emissions from the units may last through 6 February, and emissions from the derivative units may continue through 27 March, according to filings.

During the work CP Chem expects emissions of butane, butene, ethylene, propane and propylene, among other substances.
