Canadian integrated steel mill ArcelorMittal Dofasco has set higher base prices for its flat-rolled products while NLMK USA has also increased its prices.
The blast furnace-based Dofasco raised hot rolled coil (HRC) prices to C$1,200/short ton (st)($900/st), and cold rolled coil (CRC) and hot dipped galvanized (HDG) coil pricing to C$1,460/st.
Galvanneal pricing rose to C$1,470/st while galvalume pricing increased to C$1,500/st.
The last price increase released by the steelmaker was by C$65/st, with no minimum price set, so it is unclear how much higher the new price minimums are from the last increase on 3 February.
At NLMK USA, the company raised its base prices by $50/st, according to a release from 13 February. It previously targeted HRC minimum pricing of $875/st, implying a new price minimum of $925/st.
The moves mirror price increase by Cleveland-Cliffs and Nucor announced Monday morning, which both raised prices by $50/st and also set HRC price minimums of $900/st. Those two companies were joined by US Steel, which increased flat steel prices by $50/st.
