Australia’s Strike, Talon to sell condensate to Santos

Australian independent Strike Energy and exploration firm Talon Energy have inked a condensate processing and liquids aggregation agreement with Australian oil and gas giant Santos.

Joint venture partners Strike and Talon have agreed to process and sell condensate, a byproduct from the Walyering gas field in Western Australia. Strike and Talon each have a 55pc and 45pc stake in the project.

The high quality of the Walyering condensate is expected to fetch a premium pricing on the Brent crude oil market and is forecast to capture an annual gross revenue of over A$10 million ($6.7 million), assuming a 250 b/d production rate, Strike said on 17 May.

Strike also expects a breakeven price of $45-50/bl for this byproduct, which will provide "another valuable profit and revenue stream".

Construction at the Walyering gas field has been progressing steadily, and the project is on track to start up in the first half of 2023. Strike delayed commissioning and start-up at the Walyering project earlier this month. Commissioning and start-up of the gas field is now expected to occur over the March-June quarter.
