US hot-dipped galvanized (HDG) and cold-rolled coil (CRC) prices both fell this week as lower offers and falling hot rolled coil (HRC) prices weighed.
The Argus weekly ex-works US HDG price fell by $20/st to $940/short ton (st) while the CRC price fell by $20/st to $980/st, both on an ex-works basis.
HRC prices fell by $30/st to $760/st.
Repeatable HDG offers were reported between $920-950/st, with a Midwest mill offering $940-950/st after offering elevated prices for weeks.
Steel market participants at the SMU Steel Summit in Atlanta agreed that upcoming mill outages could impact supply of value-added CRC and HDG products in September and October.
Repeatable offers for CRC were between $980-1,00/st, with one mill reporting it had sold at $1,040/st for 100-500st of material.
The weekly Argus average US HDG mill lead time lengthened to eight weeks from 7-8 weeks, while CRC lead times were flat at 7-8 weeks.
