France-based aluminum products manufacturer Constellium successfully tested its new laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) aluminum sorting technology.
Constellium's LIBS technology can sort 5xxx and 6xxx alloys, achieving 95pc purity in sorting during the automotive recycling process without compromising material integrity.
The company has tested and proven the technology's effectiveness at its Neuf-Brisach, France, recycling center which opened earlier this year.
