Ongoing works at Azerbaijan's Shakh Deniz field have been extended by four days until the early hours of 19 January, according to marketing firm Azerbaijan Gas Supply Company (AGSC).

An AGSC works notice this morning showed unplanned upstream works at Shakh Deniz being extended for a third time since they were first announced on 6 January.

According to the latest notice, Shakh Deniz flows to Europe will be cut by 8.5mn m³/d from 15 January until 04:00 local time on 19 January, following previously announced flow reductions of 5.5mn m³/d on 7-14 January.

Those restrictions are roughly equal to 100 GWh/d and 65 GWh/d, using the average energy content at the Kipoi point on the Turkey-Greece border where Tap starts.

Works had previously been scheduled to end early tomorrow morning, according to AGSC notices. BP, which holds the largest single stake in Shakh Deniz, has confirmed an issue with a condensate pipeline has shut down production at the field's Alpha platform. Output from the field's other platform — Bravo — has been ramped up to full capacity, BP said. The company this week has declined to provide an end date for the works.

As of this afternoon nominations showed Kipoi entry flows sinking to a fresh four-month low of 221GWh tomorrow from 251GWh today. Kipoi receipts had already fallen to 256 GWh/d on 7-13 January from 349 GWh/d earlier in the month, and 381 GWh/d in December.

Italy holds a long-term contract for 8bn m³/yr of supply on Tap, equal to around 255 GWh/d using the average calorific value of its Tap receipts. Greece and Bulgaria each hold contracts for 1bn m³/yr — around 32 GWh/d.

Recent flows have largely fulfilled the daily average of Italy's contracted flows, but Greek and Bulgarian offtake from Tap have both been zero since 9 January.
