Brazil's polyvinyl chloride (PVC) imports in January-April rose by 8pc from a year earlier, according to data from Brazilian trade ministry database ComexStat.
PVC imports in January-April reached around 201,445 metric tonnes (t), up from 184,030t in the same period in 2024. In monetary value terms, imports rose by 9pc year-on-year, totaling $167mn, compared with $151mn in January-April 2024.
Imports from Colombia, Brazil's top PVC supplier, remained the largest, increasing to 87,235t from 74,650t in January-April 2024. PVC imports from the US slightly increased to 58,045t, up by 4pc from 55,570t last year.
Resin imports from Egypt rose to 24,160t, a 29pc increase from 18,750t. Meanwhile, Argentina's PVC shipments significantly rose to 15,660t, from 10,035t in January-April 2024.
Brazil's PVC exports in January-April declined by 46pc from a year earlier, totaling 1,050t, down from 2,870t in the same period in 2024. The monetary value of those exports fell by 65pc, dropping to $1.38mn, compared with $3.37mn last year.
The top importers of Brazilian PVC in January-April 2025 were Argentina and Portugal. Argentina received 895t of PVC emulsions, a 21pc decline from 1,130t last year, valued at $1.15mn, down by 37pc from $1.81mn in 2024.
Meanwhile, Argentina's suspension-grade PVC imports grew to 95t, a 5pc decrease in volume. But the monetary value grew over threefold to $119,464. Portugal entered as a new buyer, receiving 50t of suspension-grade PVC, valued at $91,760, with no imports in 2024.
