Turkey has imposed anti-dumping (AD) duties ranging from 4.34-9.4pc, depending on the producer, on South Korean hot-rolled plate (HRP) imports.
Initial findings of the probe were published in late March when Hyundai and Posco's dumping margins were calculated at 4.34pc and 4.37pc, respectively, while all other South Korean producers were found to have dumped at a margin of 9.4pc.
The investigation period for the determination of dumping spanned 1 January-31 December 2023.
All parties involved had 37 days to respond to the findings, with market participants highlighting that Erdemir, Turkey's sole HRP producer, lodged a complaint for the dumping margins to be raised.
But the Turkish trade ministry has gone ahead with its original calculations, confirming its March findings.
Sales are likely to continue into Turkey from South Korea, as the duties are not too high, two traders said.
A different source said Chinese HRP might gain favour in Turkey, with current AD costs for South Korean HRP estimated anywhere between $30-150/t, depending on the producer, product and extras.
Turkey imported a total of 420,000t of HRP in January-June, up by 16pc on the year, GTT trade data show, with arrivals mainly supported by South Korea and China.
