Another vessel has been targeted in the Mideast Gulf, fresh reports from the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) indicate, adding to the growing list of incidents in the region.
The UKMTO today reported an incident where a tanker experienced a loud blast about 10 miles east of Fujairah, UAE, at 22:30 GMT. Debris from an unidentified projectile was later found on deck, and the vessel's funnel sustained minor damage. No major damage or environmental implications have been detected, and all crew members are safe. Authorities are investigating the incident and the UKMTO has advised vessels in the area to proceed with caution and report any suspicious activity.
The identity of the vessel involved remains unclear.
At least seven commercial ships have been attacked in the Mideast Gulf since the conflict began, prior to this latest incident.
