A fire broke out at an unidentified facility in Adnoc's 817,000 b/d Ruwais refinery complex in Abu Dhabi following a drone attack, authorities said today, adding that no injuries have been reported so far.

The company did not disclose which facility was struck at the complex, where Adnoc operates the 417,000 b/d Ruwais West and 400,000 b/d Ruwais East refineries. The west refinery has been shut down as a precautionary measure, a source close to refinery operations said, but this could not be directly confirmed.

The complex also houses the 2mn t/yr granular urea Fertil plant, operated by Fertiglobe, among other units. There has been no immediate indication of any impact to urea production at the site and Fertiglobe has yet to provide a production status update for Fertil at the time of writing.

The strike is the latest in a series of attacks on Mideast Gulf energy infrastructure since the US-Iran war erupted on 28 February. In Bahrain, an Iranian missile struck Bapco Energies' 405,000 b/d Sitra refinery on 5 March, making it the latest refinery in the region to be hit. In Kuwait, debris injured workers at the 346,000 b/d Mina Al-Ahmadi refinery. Meanwhile, state-controlled Saudi Aramco shut its 550,000 b/d Ras Tanura refinery on 2 March after debris from intercepted drones fell on the plant, and the facility was targeted again on 4 March.
