London, 20 August (Argus) — Natural gas production by the Danish Underground Consortium (Duc) increased slightly in July, ending a recent slowdown in output, but was still significantly lower than at the same time last year.

Duc's production totalled 270mn m³ in July, up from 240mn m³ in June. Production had slowed for four consecutive months before increasing last month. But July's production was down from 360mn m³ in July last year. July 2012 output slowed from 400mn m³ the previous month.

July's production was below Duc's forecast for the month, thanks to shutdowns at the Tyra field.

Duc's output slowed slightly in August last year from the previous month, was unchanged in September and then increased in October.

Duc is a joint venture between AP Moller Maersk, Shell, Nordsofonden and Chevron. AP Moller Maersk holds a 31.2pc stake in the consortium and Shell and Nordsofonden hold 36.8pc and 20pc, respectively, while Chevron holds 12pc.
