Both the Houston Ship Channel and Sabine Pass opened to inbound and outbound traffic overnight after heavy fog conditions restricted LPG exports for the majority of 1-4 March.
The Houston Ship Channel opened at 1:01am ET today while Sabine Pass allowed for ship movements at 1:30am ET, according to the respective waterways' dispatchers.
By midmorning, Enterprise Products Partners' Houston Ship Channel LPG export facility housed both the VLGC Albert and GasChem Hunte, while the handy-sized Navigator Virgo moved into position at Targa's Galena Park, Texas, facility.
Targa's LPG export terminal went unutilized from 1 March to 4 March as ongoing fog-related closures at the Houston Ship Channel kept inbound traffic at sea.
At midmorning the Windsor began moving into the channel, though whether it is destined for Targa or Enterprise is still unclear.
Market players expect both terminal operators will be able to quickly bounce back from the days-long outages. Estimates for the time needed to get back on schedule range between 24 to 36 hours.
At Sabine Pass, the waterway needed for vessels to move into the newly operational Mariner South terminal in Nederland, Texas, was closed throughout yesterday, according to dispatch. The VLGC Comet arrived in the anchorage waters outside of the passage early yesterday for an expected LPG loading at Nederland. It was still anchored this morning as several oil tankers were prioritized for inbound movement into the terminal.
