Lyondell Channelview sees RTBE unit upset

Lyondell reported flaring from an RTBE unit at its Channelview, Texas facility late yesterday, according to a filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

Operators stabilized the unit following the upset, which resulted in emissions of feedstock isobutylene. Alkyl tert-butyl ethers (RTBE) are used as octane boosters.
