ExxonMobil Singapore expects to start commercial production at its 140,000 t/yr butyl plant on Jurong island in this year's second half.
The butyl plant, which started on-specification production in May last year, produces premium halobutyl rubber used by tire manufacturers.
ExxonMobil also operates a 90,000 t/yr resins plant, the world's largest, at the same Jurong island complex. The plant, which produces resins for hot-melt adhesives used in packaging and diapers, started up in December 2017 and has been in commercial production for more than a year.
