Norway-based shipowner Flex LNG has launched the 173,400m³ Flex Resolute LNG carrier at South Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) shipyard.
The vessel, one of seven newbuilds on Flex's order book, will now start sea trials (see table). It is expected to be operational in the third quarter, once fully refurbished and mobilised, the firm said.
Flex LNG said it was "likely" to fix the Flex Resolute under a long-term charter, as it continues to move away from the spot market.
The company signed a five-year charter agreement at the end of last year with trading firm Gunvor for the 173,400m³ Flex Artemis. The vessel — launched on 23 November and originally due to be named the Flex Reliance — will be delivered by DSME in August.
