A gas leak today at the LG Polymers India (LGPI) plant in Visakhapatnam has killed at least six people with many more hospitalized.
The leak occurred as the country continues its extended Covid-19 lockdown. Operations at Indian polymer factories have been affected with plastics conversion, except for essential items, curbed since the lockdown started on 25 March.
LGPI in Andhra Pradesh state produces polystyrene (PS) and expendable PS. South Korea's LG Chemical took over the previously known Hindustan Polymers in 1997.
