Air New Zealand's passenger numbers in October rebounded from a 16-month low in September.
The country's largest city of Auckland has been in a Covid-19 lockdown since 17 August that is due to end on 3 December. The lockdown has impacted international and domestic air traffic from the country's busiest airport.
The airline in October carried 340,000 passengers, up by 27.8pc from 266,000 in September, but stood only around half of the 690,000 passengers carried in October 2020, Air New Zealand said.
Domestic travellers accounted for the majority of passengers in October, the airline said. International travel from New Zealand has remained subdued with its borders largely closed, with the airline carrying around 3,000 international passengers in October. The latest monthly passenger data showed that Air New Zealand's flights were half full on average.
