The share of biodiesel and ethanol in Germany's road fuel mix fell on the month in December but blending of both increased on the year.
Gasoline consumption fell by 9.6pc on the month to 1.34mn t, and the percentage of ethanol blended into this followed suit, decreasing by 4.9pc to just over 99,950t. But this was still 5.1pc higher than blending levels in December 2021.
Total ethanol demand in Germany was 1.18mn t in 2022, up by 1.2pc on the year.
E10 sales slipped by 7.6pc on the month in December. But the share of E10 in the overall gasoline pool crept up to 25pc, from 24.5pc in November. E10 demand for 2022 increased by just under 41pc, reaching 3.97mn t.
Biodiesel and hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) sales eased by 1.2pc on the month in December, but at 214,800t this was still 13.4pc higher than December 2021. Cumulative biodiesel and HVO consumption for 2022 hit just under 2.5mn t, slowing down by 2.3pc compared with 2021. Diesel demand moved in tandem with biodiesel demand, falling by 1.8pc on the year to 34.4mn t.
