Kuwait's state-owned KPC has resumed exports from its 615,000 b/d al-Zour refinery following the restart of one of two crude distillation units (CDU) that were shut in early April because of technical issues.
The Desh Garima, loaded with 109,000t of very low-sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO), departed Mina Al Zour Terminal on 30 April, according to oil analytics firm Vortexa. The vessel is sailing to Fujairah, the Middle East's major storage and bunkering centre in the UAE.
The facility's No.1 CDU had restarted by 21 April following a series of technical issues earlier in the month that led to its closure. The No.2 CDU will be restarting soon, according to company sources.
The Al-Zour refinery regularly exports VLSFO and had offered up to 1.79mn t (54,000 b/d) for loading during November 2022-May 2023, Argus' tender records show. Its last known sale was for early-April loading through a tender that closed on 21 March.
The refinery also previously offered and sold low-sulphur diesel and jet fuel.
