Aviation services group Willis Lease Finance Corp (WLFC) plans to develop a synthetic sustainable aviation fuel (e-SAF) plant on Teesside, northeast England, according to the local authority.
WLFC, along with its subsidiary Willis Sustainable Fuels UK, plans to develop the refinery using power-to-liquid (PtL) technology. That will convert feedstock derived from industrial waste CO2 and green hydrogen produced from renewable electricity into SAF.
WLFC is yet to apply for a planning permit, which could take months to be approved. The comnpany did not mention the anticipated amount of SAF it expects the plant to produce.
