US polyvinyl chloride (PVC) exports to Latin America jumped in November, marking a 13th consecutive month of annual gains.

Traders found new consumers throughout Latin America after Brazil imposed higher anti-dumping duties on US PVC.

Exports to Mexico rose by 37pc to 29,650 metric tonnes (t) in November from the same month in 2024, Census Bureau data compiled by Global Trade Tracker (GTT) show.

Shipments to Guatemala almost doubled during the same period to 9,640t. Exports to Colombia climbed by 38pc to 12,380t in November on the year, making it the US' fifth-largest PVC trading partner.

US exports to India also more than doubled from the prior year in November, reaching 8,600t. Exports to India had previously decreased after the country implemented preliminary anti-dumping duties (ADD) on US and southeast Asian PVC. Shipments to India rebounded, though, after India failed to formally implement the proposed ADD.

Future US shipments to India face headwinds after China rolled back its value-added tax (VAT) rebates on a host of products destined for export, including PVC. The move could raise the price floor for Chinese producers.

The rollback is set to begin 1 April.
