An equipment malfunction resulted in butadiene flaring at the BASF-Total olefins complex in Port Arthur, Texas, yesterday morning, according to a filing with state regulators.
Approximately 5,480 lbs of butadiene was released along with carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxide, according to a filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
