Greece-based shipowner TMS Cardiff Gas has taken delivery of a new LNG carrier, the second of 11 newbuild carriers on the firm's orderbook.

The 174,000m³ Amberjack LNG will enter a long-term charter with "one of the major gas companies" upon delivery, the firm said. The vessel was built by South Korean shipyard Hyundai Heavy Industries.

TMS Cardiff Gas expects to take delivery of another nine newbuilds in 2020-21, which would bring the firm's LNG carrier fleet to 16 (see table). The firm took delivery of the first of its ordered newbuilds, the 174,000m³ La Seine, last month. It owns another five operational LNG carriers, which were build between 2004 and 2014.

Total has chartered the La Seine for a seven-year period, as well as another vessel on TMS Cardiff Gas' order book, the 174,000m³ Qogir. Four of the ordered newbuilds are set to operate under charters with Shell, while another is to be chartered by trading firm Vitol.

TMS Cardiff Gas secured term charters for all 11 newbuilds as of the end of September but has not named the firms chartering the remaining four, including the Amberjack LNG.
