Norwegian fertilizer producer Yara will inaugurate its expanded complex in Brazil's southern state of Rio Grande do Sul in 2020, with investment of around R1.6bn ($400mn).
With the expansion, Yara says it will increase the production capacity of the unit, in the city of Rio Grande, by 60pc.
The granulation capacity will increase to 1.2mn metric tonnes (t)/yr from 750,000t/yr, while the fertilizer mixing and bagging capacity is estimated to climb to 2.2mn t/yr from 1.5mn t/yr.
The complex first began operations in 2019, with the launch of the automatic bagging and blending unit for the dispatch of big bags.
The new, expanded Rio Grande complex has two phosphate and NPK production plants, an acidulation plant, a granulation plant, and a fertilizer blender.
The unit also has its own pier and connection with modal rail for loading and unloading of raw materials and the transportation of products.
