Norway offshore strike to end as pay agreement reached

Norway's offshore strike will end, and operations at affected oil and gas platforms will resume as soon as staff return.

The Norwegian Oil and Gas Association (Noga) and the Lederne union reached an agreement on their pay dispute in talks today, both sides said. Lederne made the decision to strike after initial mediation broke down last week.

More than a dozen fields — including the region's giant Johan Sverdrup — were either shut or partially shut due to staff walk-offs during the week. The cumulative effect of these shut-ins could have reduced Norway's output by 966,000 b/d of oil equivalent (boe/d), almost a quarter of the total, Noga had said.
