Indonesian resources firm Antam produced less ferro-nickel and nickel ore from a year earlier in the third quarter, while increasing its output of bauxite and alumina.
Ferro-nickel output totalled 6,106t during July-September, down from 6,418t a year earlier, with output falling to 18,088t from 19,096t over the same period, the firm said in its latest quarterly production report.
Nickel ore production reduced to 1.82mn wet metric tonnes (wmt) in the third quarter, down from 2.96mn wmt a year earlier, with output of 6.21mn wmt compared with 8.3mn wmt the previous year.
Bauxite output increased to 461,131t from 274,960t in the previous third quarter, while January-September output of 1.37mn t was slightly lower than 1.34mn t a year earlier. Alumina production rose to 47,982t for July-September on the continued ramp-up of the Tayan chemical-grade alumina plant, up from 27,104t a year earlier. This contributed to January-September output of 115,875t, up from 55,814t the previous year.
July-September ferro-nickel sales totalled 7,646t, up from 6,812ta year earlier, with nickel ore sales falling to 1.71mn wmt from 2.1mn wmt the previous year. Bauxite sales fell to 274,252t from 322,700t a year earlier, while alumina sales rose to 40,279t from 32,628t.
Ferro-nickel sales for January-September totalled 17,269t, down from 18,880t the previous year. Nickel ore sales fell to 4.75mn t from 5.75mn t for the same period. Bauxite sales increased to 935,518t from 909,985t a year earlier, while alumina sales rose to 114,422t from 93,869t.
