US-based battery manufacturer Pure Lithium plans to quicken production of membranes used in lithium-metal batteries through a partnership with specialty materials manufacturer Saint-Gobain Ceramics.
Pure Lithium will use France-based Saint-Gobain's manufacturing capacity, along with its research and development, to speed up membrane commercialization, the company said this week.
The membranes are used to electrodeposit lithium onto substrate to form lithium-metal anodes or as separators within batteries.
Pure Lithium is developing a lithium-metal anode with Canadian lithium developer E3 Lithium as part of its plans to produce lithium metal-vanadium batteries that utilize a vanadium-based cathode material.
