South Korean top battery maker LG Energy Solution (LGES) has signed two multi-year deals to supply European carmaker Mercedes Benz with 107GWh of electric vehicle (EV) batteries.

Mercedes-Benz will receive 32GWh of the batteries, while the other 75GWh has been contracted to a Mercedes-Benz affiliate, according to two separate filings by LGES on 3 September.

The 32GWh deal will be from August 2028 to the end of 2035, while the 75GWh deal will be from the end of July 2029 to the end of 2037. LGES did not disclose the estimated contract amount.

LGES signed a few battery supply deals this year, spanning its energy storage system (ESS) and EV battery segments. It signed ESS battery deals with Polish state-controlled utility PGE and Taiwanese electronics manufacturing firm Delta Electronics earlier this year.

LGES signed an EV battery supply deal with Chinese state-owned automaker Chery Automobile in June, before securing a $4.3bn lithium-iron-phosphate battery deal with an undisclosed global client in late July.
