US automaker General Motors (GM) is adding overtime shifts at six of its North American plants in November to make up lost production.

GM will add the overtime shifts at plants including the Arlington, Texas, full-size SUV facility and full-size pickup truck plants in Ft Wayne, Indiana, and Silao, Mexico.

Production will also increase at GM's Lansing Delta Township crossover plant and Wentzville, Missouri, midsize pickup truck plant, in addition to the Lansing Grand River sedan plant.

The week of 1 November will be the first time since February that GM has not idled an entire assembly plant from a lack of semiconductor chips.

Multiple plants are still running at limited production rates.

The Silao truck plant is down for the week of 25 October because of semiconductor shortages.

Stellantis also confirmed today that all of its North American plants will be running the week of 1 November.
