Southeast Asian demand lifts China’s amsul exports

China exported 4.2mn t of ammonium sulphate (amsul) during January-July, up by 7pc from the same period last year, supported by rising shipments to southeast Asia.

Deliveries to Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Myanmar (Burma) and the Philippines accounted for most of the increase.

Thailand imported 220,135t of Chinese amsul compared with 53,700t during January-July last year. Vietnam bought 466,258t, up by 18pc over last year. Malaysia imported 341,383t, up by 39pc, Myanmar 336,076t that was up by 75pc and the Philippines 298,492t that increased by 31pc.

Brazil imported 702,954t of Chinese amsul, down by 2pc against January-July last year. Indonesia bought 376,045t that was down by 44pc, while Turkey took 61,313t that was a 83pc fall from last year.
