Steel tube maker Wheatland Tube has raised its pipe prices by $120/short ton (st), citing increased raw material costs.

The company, a subsidiary of steel service center Zekelman Industries, said pricing of 0.5in to 4in continuous weld pipe surethread and 2-18in grade B electric resistance welded (ERW) pipe both will increase by $120/st.

Pricing for 1-10in sprinkler pipe will increase by 10pc. Wheatland Tube did not release minimum price levels.

The move follows multiple $100/st price increases this week from US steelmakers, with almost all major players in the market following electric arc furnace (EAF) steelmaker Nucor's lead from Tuesday morning.

Nucor and several other steel mills set a hot rolled coil (HRC) price minimum of $1,000/st, while NLMK USA set HRC levels at that point and also raised pricing for cold rolled coil and hot dipped galvanized coil products to $1,200/st.

The Argus US HRC Midwest and southern assessments rose to $900/st on 21 February, reflecting higher spot prices received at the mills and their elevated offers.
