Egyptian fertilizer producer Alexfert restarted its 635,000 t/yr plant yesterday, with urea output expected later this week. Kima and Helwan have also restarted after carrying out maintenance for around two weeks following shutdowns. Their plants have a combined capacity of around 1.1mn t/yr. Urea output is expected in the coming days too.
Mopco is still running two of its granular urea plants at 90pc of capacity, while its third is under maintenance until the end of the Eid holidays from 6 to 9 June. The three plants have a combined capacity of over 2.1mn t/yr.
Abu Qir is running its 635,000 t/yr granular urea plant at around 95pc of capacity, while its 540,000 t/yr prilled urea plant is expected to be operating at this level in a couple of days. NCIC and EFC's production status has yet to be confirmed.
The collective loss of urea production in Egypt since 17 May amounts to more than 100,000t, Argus estimates.
