Key features
Daily forward curve updates
Argus publishes forward curves on weekdays. Prices are timestamped at 16:30 London, with the exception of Chicago ethanol, which carries a 14:30 New York timestamp.
Global biofuels coverage
Twenty-seven markets span biodiesel, ethanol, HVO, SAF, UCO and marine biofuels across ARA range, southeast Asia, Malaysia/Indonesia and the US, with prices in $/t and €/m³.
Zero-arbitrage pricing
Strip prices always equal the average of their component periods, ensuring internal consistency across monthly, quarterly and calendar strip contracts.
Rigorous data validation
Curves are calculated from current and historical inputs, including traded forward markets and historical price relationships. All inputs undergo rigorous quality and relevance checks.
Methodology and oversight
All models adhere to published methodologies and are under continual review, including evaluation of conceptual soundness, ongoing monitoring and outcome analysis.
Flexible delivery options
Access data via datafeed, Argus Direct® client portal, third-party partners, Excel add-in or email, integrating into existing risk management and analytical workflows.

The main risks and constraints for biofuels demand include:
- Feedstock Availability and Competition: Limited availability of raw materials like corn, sugarcane, or palm oil can restrict biofuel production. Competing uses such as food production can also drive up prices.
- Land Use and Environmental Impact: Expansion of biofuel crops can lead to deforestation, loss of biodiversity, and increased greenhouse gas emissions due to land-use changes.
- Technological and Economic Challenges: High production costs, limited technological advances, and infrastructure constraints can hinder scaling biofuels.
- Policy and Regulatory Risks: Changes in government policies, subsidies, or international trade regulations can create uncertainty and affect demand.
- Market Competition: Biofuels must compete with fossil fuels and other renewable energy sources, influencing market share and investment.
- Sustainability Concerns: Increasing emphasis on sustainability and certification standards may restrict biofuel types and feedstocks considered acceptable.
Understanding these factors is crucial for stakeholders to navigate the biofuels market effectively.
