COP27

COP27

The UN climate change conference, Cop 27, took place in Sharm-el-Sheikh, Egypt, from 7-18 November 2022. The summit reached a breakthrough agreement on a new loss and damage fund for developing countries worst-hit by climate change, but it failed to make progress to limit greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions responsible for global warming. From the push for more ambitious emission targets — the so-called Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) — to pressure to deliver on climate finance and the impact of Article 6 on voluntary carbon markets, decisions made at Cop meetings have far reaching effects across the markets Argus serves.

Argus provides key insights into the developments and discussions at Cop, shining a light on how they will affect the global energy and commodity markets. Cop 28 will take place in the UAE from 30 November to 12 December 2023.

The ongoing energy crisis has changed the landscape dramatically since the Cop 26. For more information please download our white paper, Countries and industry pledges to net zero-Cop 27.

Explainers

The current energy crisis has changed the landscape dramatically since countries last met at the UN Climate Cop 26 in Glasgow to discuss climate change. In the run-up to the Cop 27 climate conference in Sharm El-Sheikh in Egypt, Argus looks at progress towards pledges and commitments made last year and to what extent the crisis is weighing on some of them.
